We taste notes of mixed fruit medley and caramel, with a syrupy mouthfeel. This is a washed process coffee from the regions of Cauca, Caldas, and Tolima in Colombia. Woah, that sounds like a delicious and enjoyable decaf! You are correct my friend friends. 

Falcon Coffees partnered with Siruma to bring you this Sugarcane Decaf from Colombia. Siruma comes from the Wayuunaiki language (indigenous people in North Colombia) and means Heaven and Skies. The name of this coffee, Atunkaa, comes from the same language and means sleep and sleepy dreams. Ease your mind and allow it to rest with a cup of Atunkaa decafe after dinner. Siruma is a “specialty coffee exporter that works with different regions of Colombia, striving for social awareness, transparency, and transferring value throughout the commercial chain”. In a world that does not value doing right by people, rather growing in greed and power, it is highly important that we partner with those that care about the same things we value. We trust our importer (Falcon), connected with an exporter (Siruma) that is helping producers to “improve their income” and “find in coffee a decent and sustainable life in the long term”. Falcon and Siruma toll their decaf through Descafecol, which allows for the Association and farmers to get the largest percentages of the final price. 

This coffee is decaffeinated by Descafecol with natural ethyl acetate, which originates from sugar cane. This compound is naturally present in fruits and vegetables. In fact, a ripe banana contains 20x more ethyl acetate than a decaffeinated cup of coffee from Descafecol.
