Don Orlando Pedraza Ramírez is the owner of La Chirimoya farm, which he bought through his own hard work. Before he entered the world of coffee, his dream was to become a policeman. However, in 2015, when he planted his first coffee trees, he discovered a passion for coffee growing. As he watched the plants thrive and produce their first cherries, he decided to abandon his dream of joining the police force and dedicated himself entirely to coffee cultivation. Initially, he sold his coffee to local buyers but always took great care in his work, hoping that one day someone would recognize the quality of his coffee and reward him for his efforts.
In 2020, Don Orlando experimented with a natural processing method and sold the resulting coffee to a neighbor, who managed to get a good price for it. Around the same time, Falcon Coffees held a special coffee workshop at the San Antonio base in the Huabal district. Don Orlando happened to attend this event, where he listened intently to the technical advice being shared. Inspired, he contacted a Falcon Coffees technician for further guidance, as he was determined to grow the best coffee in his area. He tried several different processes—some successful, others not—but Don Orlando never gave up. He kept refining his methods until he produced a naturally processed coffee that was exceptional, scoring over 88 points. This success made him immensely proud, as he had finally achieved his goal of producing the best coffee in the region.
Don Orlando lives on his farm with his wife and young children. He has big plans for the future: he wants to plant a hectare of Geisha coffee and hopes to win a Cup of Excellence award. He also advises his neighbors to plan their work carefully, seek advice, and remember that coffee is a food that must be treated with care. He believes that the secret to being a great producer lies within each person and that quality is the result of the dedication each one of us brings to the craft.
